A blower door test is a indicative tool designed to measure air leakage in a home.
Every home leaks air, but the amount of air leaked depends on how the building was sealed. If your home takes longer to heat up and cool down a blower door test can be conducted to measure the air leakage rate and identify where the leaks are. This tool can be beneficial to both old and new homes.
A blower door test consists of putting a fan mounted into a door frame to lower the air pressure inside a house by pulling air out. A pressure-sensing device is then used to measure the air pressure difference between the inside and outside of the home. A combination of pressure and fan-flow measurements determines the number of air leaks in the home.
